David Niemeyer
David Norbert Niemeyer, 62, of Upland, Calif., died Aug. 28, 2006, at his home following an extended illness.
Surviving with his wife of 38 years, the former Rebecca Bruns, are a son, Matthew D. (Janine), and a daughter, Rachel R., also of California; his parents, Norbert and Rita Niemeyer, Winter Haven, Fla.; six brothers, Russell of Winter Haven, Dennis of Saluda, N.C., Louis of Durham, N.C., Robert of Spencerville, Mark of Blanchester, and Roger of Lima; four sisters, Patricia Boerger, Winter Haven, Joyce Brinkman and Joann Odenweller, both of Delphos, and Betty Farr, Van Wert; and a grandson.
He founded Niemeyer Development Corp., a developer of custom homes in Southern California. An avid student of Native American Indian culture, he worked to continue advancement of those studies as president of Chaffey Communities Cultural Center at the Cooper Museum in Upland.
A private memorial service is planned.
Contributions can be made to a memorial fund established at Cooper Museum to support and continue his work.
