Richard F. Zimmerman, 80, 156 E. Third St., Minster, died at 7:45 a.m. Dec. 29, 2006, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was ill one week.
He was born May 18, 1926, in Fort Loramie, to Mathias and Sofia Brandewie Zimmerman. On Nov. 10, 1948, he married Lillian M. Hoying, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Don (Kendra), Canton, and Ed (Melanie), Cincinnati; a daughter, Connie (Bruce) Ourieff, Nipomo, Calif.; three brothers, Burk and John (Edna), all of Troy, and Matt (Doris), Fort Loramie; two sisters, Treva (Vernon) Barhorst, Minster, and Annette (David) Haraburda, Chicago, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Clarence Poeppelman, Versailles; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchidlren.
Deceased are three brothers and a sister.
He retired after 42 years at Minster Machine Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during World War II and a 1944 graduate of Fort Loramie High School. He was a charter member and past president of the Minster Area Life Squad. In 1991, he was grand marshal of Minster Oktoberfest. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 2158 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1391, all of Minster.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
