M. Eleanor Hoenie
  M. Eleanor Hoenie, 89, 5669 Miller Road, St. Marys died at 12:33 a.m. June 1, 2009, at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community.
She was born Dec. 14, 1919, in Noble Township to Edwin W. and Hilda M. Schamp Sandkuhl. Her first husband, Darrel Johns, died in 1971. On Feb. 14, 1974, she married Carl J. Hoenie, who died April 6, 2008.
Surviving are three sons, James E. (Sharon) Johns, St. Marys, Larry W. (Patty) Johns, Moulton, and Roger D. (Terry) Johns, West Chester; two stepsons, Marvin Hoenie, Celina, and Don (Raydell) Hoenie, Clarksville, Tenn.; a sister, Mary Alice Stoner, St. Marys; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandhildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Nancy J. Whitney; a brother, Wayne Sandkuhl; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Johns; a granddaughter and a grandson.
She retired from St. Marys Hardware after 38 years and was a 1937 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Celina, and the Hopewell Grange, Celina.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Cisco Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Rita Bair officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
