Thomas Mendenhall
  Celina native Thomas A. Mendenhall, 92, Pittsford, N.Y., died at 2 p.m. April 28, 2010, at his home.
He was born Aug. 6, 1917, in Celina, to John K. and Clara Ruth Borger Mendenhall. In 1949, he married Dorothy Fowler, who died in 1980. On April 20, 1986, he married Esther Telarico, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, John (Joan) Mendenhall, Cleveland, Thomas (Nina) Mendenhall, Miami, Fla., James Mendenhall, Rockville, Md., and William Mendenhall, San Diego, Calif.; one daughter, Mary (Rob) Maggin, Rockville, Md.; and eight grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Donald Mendenhall, and a sister, Mary Carroll.
He graduated from The Ohio State University with a law degree and joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a special agent working at field offices in Knoxville, Tenn., Steubenville, New York City and Washington, D.C., before retiring in 1971. He moved to Rochester, N.Y., where he was a professor of criminal justice at Monroe Community College and an instructor at the Regional Criminal Justice Education & Training Center before retiring in 1987. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marine Corps during World War II.
Private services will be today at Whitehaven Cemetery, Pittsford.
