Marjory Schmidt
  Marjory D. Schmidt, 90, 1929 Cheshire Drive, St. Marys, died at 1:45 p.m. May 6, 2010, at St. Marys Living Center in St. Marys.
She was born April 8, 1920, in Shelby County to Irwin H. and Alma Heil Westerbeck. On Oct. 18, 1941, she married Raymond J. Schmidt, who survives in St. Marys.
Also surviving are three daughters, Dorothy Coore, Cincinnati, Janet (Patrick) Smith, Celina, and Sara (Don) Maurer, New Knoxville, three sons, Don (Rita) Schmidt, Findlay, Dale Schmidt, St. Marys, and Lynn (Carol) Schmidt, St. Marys; a sister, Louis (Al) Stammen, North Star; a brother, Ken (Betty) Westerbeck, Kettering; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son-in-law, Frank Coore; a brother, John (Helen) Westerbeck; and a brother-in-law, Edgar (Lucille) Schmidt.
She attended Poppe rural school near New Bremen for eight years and graduated from New Bremen High School in 1938. She received a degree in Christian education from Defiance College in 1976. She was employed as a Christian education director, a school bus driver and an auction clerk, all in St. Marys. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in St. Marys, where she was a school teacher and youth adviser. She also served on the Christian education committees at local, state, and national levels. She was an organizational leader for "Sing Out St. Marys" and volunteered at East and West elementary schools and St. Marys Day Care Center. She also was a director of Agape Ministries and was a member and an officer of the Auglaize County Mental Health Board and a member of the Community League of Women. In 1968, she was selected as one of Miami Valley's Top Ten Women by the Dayton Daily News.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Dr. Ed Bray officiating. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Calling is 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys, and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
