Kenneth Short
Kenneth J. "Kenny" Short, 75, Celina, passed away at 12:55 p.m. Feb. 4, 2013, at his residence in Celina.
He was born March 18, 1937, in Smithboro, Ky., to Jolly "Doc" and Clarinda Amburgey Short. On March 29, 1958, he married Shirley Killian, who survives.
Also surviving are his sons, Ronald Allan (Shirley) Short and Gage Ryan Short, all of Celina; daughters, Pamela Sue (Jim) Neumaier of Greenville and Ann Marie (Jeffrey Allen) Price of Celina; four grandchildren, Megan Short, Victoria Matthews, Ridge Matthews and Kenneth Short; a great-grandson, Sylus Dean; a brother, Harold Short of Tennessee; sisters, Jewell Baker of Kentucky, Emogene Collins of Sidney, Rena Mae Amburgey of Indiana and Ina Mae (Robert) Wynn of Piqua.
Deceased are sisters and brothers-in-law, Armina (Wesley) Reynolds, Dora Lee (Willis) Backes, Sam Baker, Arnold Collins and Earl Amburgey.
He was a member of Celina American Legion Post 210, Celina Eagles and Mount Tabor Church of God. He was employed as a painter at New Idea in Coldwater for 32 years and retired in 1990. He was an avid bowler, loved to fish, enjoyed gardening and was last year's champion in the Mercer County Church Dart Ball League.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Tabor Church of God, the Rev. Richard Van Horn and Rev. Jim Keiser officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at North Grove Cemetery in Celina.
Calling is 5-9 p.m. today at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Celina American Legion Post 210 and VFW Post 5713 will conduct membership services at 7 p.m. tonight.
