Dorothy Brandewie
Dorothy Ann Brandewie, 87, Fort Loramie, passed away peacefully March 2, 2013, at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
She was born June 30, 1925, in Newport to Joseph and Lena Paulus Schwartz. On May 2, 1945, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Newport, she married Clarence W. Brandewie, who died Oct. 6, 2000.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Brandewie of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Ann Brandewie (Kenneth Manaster) of Los Altos, Calif.; five sons, Michael (Ursula) Brandewie of Fort Loramie, Eugene (Sharon) Brandewie of Springfield, Thomas (Peggy) Brandewie of Fort Loramie, Douglas (Heidi) Brandewie of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and Anthony (Missi) Brandewie of Burlington, N.C.; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Ernest (Pilar) Brandewie of Notre Dame, Ind., and Erma Konish of North Hollywood, Calif.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Also deceased are her parents and four siblings, Paul, Delbert, Helen and Joseph Jr. Schwartz.
She was a 1943 graduate of Fort Loramie High School. She retired in 1990 from Heritage Manor Nursing Center in Minster, where she worked in housekeeping for 12 years. She had always been a devoted homemaker. Her large family was blessed by her devotion to them all, by her sweet and positive outlook and by her strength throughout her life. Her happiest times were when she was surrounded by her family, and her greatest joy was in the warmth of the family that she and her husband created.
She attended St. Michael Catholic Church, Fort Loramie, and had been active in St. Ann's Ladies Sodality and the Apostleship of Prayer. She was also a former CCD teacher.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael Catholic Church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiant. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
Memorials may be given to the Fort Loramie Rescue Squad or Fort Loramie Fire Department.
