Work continues on Main Street in Coldwater, which currently looks like a battle zone from the east side of the village to Second Street (Ohio 118). The cost of the project, including $60,000 in street lighting, is about $433,900, which does not include upgrades on Seventh and First streets. Village Administrator Eric Thomas this morning said the downtown project is expected to be completed in about three weeks. A delay in the project occurred recently when crews discovered an old 4-inch, high pressure gas line along the curbs on the south side of the street between Fifth and Terrace, of which Dominion Gas Company officials were not previously aware. The line was subsequently replaced, Thomas said. A low-pressure gas line on the north side was replaced before the project began, he added. Water and sewer lines also are being repaired, as well as adding new street lighting, before concrete is poured next week and paving is completed the week after. Thomas said the state is providing the village with $75,000 to repave the street between Terrace and Mill streets.
