Mercer County Jail inmates work Tuesday afternoon filling sandbags for use at Community Medical Center and WCSM Radio which are threatened by menacing floodwater from the Beaver Creek. Ten local inmates as well as five brought in from the Darke County Jail spent much of the afternoon working in the parking lot behind the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office. Their efforts are continuing today with nearby Walnut Street shut down for the parking of cruisers and other vehicles. Several inmates also went to Rockford on Monday to fill and stack sandbags.
