Tim Williams of Alabama sits in the driver’s seat as Lou Ann Hamrick, left, of Marietta and Zee Wheelus of Alabama hitch a team of horses in preparation for the final day of the Ohio Bicentennial Wagon Train: The Path to Statehood. The 285-mile trek, which began June 21 in Martins Ferry, ended Monday night in the Preble County community of New Paris. Williams and Wheelus, who manned the chuck wagon, generally brought up the rear of the procession that included 18 horse- or mule-drawn wagons plus numerous outriders.
