The 285-mile trek, which began June 21 in Martins Ferry, ended Monday night in the Preble County community of New Paris. Williams and Wheelus, who manned the chuck wagon, generally brought up the rear of the procession that included 18 horse- or mule-drawn wagons plus numerous outriders. |
