It’s hard to believe the current American flag was designed by a 17-year-old boy who completed the task in one weekend.
Robert G. Heft, a retired school teacher, had initiative and creativity as a high school junior. He will share his continued spunk for learning at the Auglaize County Republican Women’s annual fall rally Thursday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall in Wapakoneta.
“It all began as a simple American history project,” said Heft, 62, in a telephone interview from his home in Saginaw, Mich.
