A Greenville man was killed Sunday morning when the motorcycle
he was driving struck a car at the intersection of Ohio 49 and
                  Ohio 707 in Blackcreek Township.
Samuel J. Brock, 57, 605 E. Harmon St., was pronounced dead
at the scene by Mercer County Coroner Dr. Timothy Heinrichs.
Eric J. Dull, 43, 15604 Jones-Hughes Road, Venedocia, was westbound
on Ohio 707. He stopped at a traffic sign and then pulled into
the intersection apparently failing to see five motorcycles
                  approaching from the south.
A witness said Brock, who was the lead motorcyclist, applied
his brakes and veered to the left in an unsuccessful attempt
to avoid the collision at 11:15 a.m. His 2000 Harley Davidson
Road King struck the left front of Dull’s 1998 Dodge Stratus.
Brock, who was ejected from the motorcycle, was found lying
face down on the pavement. He was not wearing a helmet, according
                  to the sheriff’s office report.
Dull and two passengers, Emily R. Dull, 13, and Sarah E. Dull,
no age listed, were taken by ambulance to Van Wert County Hospital.
Officials there were unable to release information due to patient
                  privacy laws.
Brock’s body was taken to Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home
in Rockford following the accident, which remains under investigation.
His death is the fifth traffic fatality recorded on Mercer County
                  highways during 2003.
