The St. Marys Legion team Post 323 has now run its record to a perfect 8-0 on the season following a trio of wins over the weekend in the Troy Legion Tournament.

On Friday, Post 323 picked up two victories with a 10-0 win over Beverly and a 5-4 over Troy while adding a 6-4 triumph over Patterson on Saturday.
Despite going 4-0 during the tourney, St. Marys didn't make the championship game due to a tiebreaker where runs allowed was used.
St. Marys made quick work of Beverly with a five-run fifth inning triggering the run rule. Scott Boley got the win on the mound by throwing a two-hitter while the St. Marys offense came alive with 11 hits. Scott Boley had two of those hits, including a home run, while Sean Boley (2 doubles), Josh Varno (double, 3 RBI), Shawn Placie (double) and Matt Helmstetter (double, triple, 2 RBI) added two hits apiece as well.
Against Troy, St. Marys broke a 4-4 tie with the game-winner in the bottom of the eighth inning. Varno picked up the win on the hill while Alex Fuerst, Craig Long and Helmstetter each had two hits.  In the tourney finale, St. Marys scored three runs in the second inning, one run in the third inning and two more runs in the fourth inning before holding on for the 6-4 victory. Todd Graves (double, home run), Tom Burke, Fuerst (home run) and Long each had two hits in the contest for Post 323. Andy Dieringer picked up the win on the mound for St. Marys.
Post 323 is back in action today at home against Lima.
