06-28-04 Cavaliers 2-1 at round-robin

  On Friday, Coldwater started the tournament with a 10-0 win over Toledo St. Francis in six innings. Matt Howell ran his record to 4-0 with a complete game three-hitter. Chad Geier and Ryan Gerlach each had home runs and Geier added two doubles for the 13-hit attack of Cold-water.

  Saturday saw the Cava-liers play the host Cheif-tains. Cold-water held a slim 3-2 lead going into the seventh but pulled away with five runs in the frame to post the 8-2 win. Steve Borger be-came the second Cav with a 4-0 record, pitching a complete game eight-hitter. Troy Siefring, Brad Heyne and Howell each had two hits for the Cavaliers.
  The final game saw Cold-water suffer its only loss in a 11-7 defeat from Vandalia-Butler. Geier suffered the loss despite hitting another home run and collecting two hits. Kyle Schoen-herr, Heyne and Trevor Strom0-blad each had two hits.
  Coldwater returns to action tonight with a game at Wapa-koneta.

BASEBALL
Post 323 gets 10th win
  St. Marys American Legion Post 323 improved to 10-3 on the season by holding off Fremont Post 121 15-14 in a slugfest at K.C. Geiger Park.
  Both teams collected 18 hits each in the contest as St. Marys led 17-7 after five innings, only to have Fremont come back with runs in the sixth, seventh and ninth innings to make it interesting.
  Matt Helmstetter had the big hitting day for St. Marys, going 3-for-5 with a three-run home run and five runs batted in. Celina grad Scott Boley went 3-for-6 with a double and two RBI.
  Picking up two hits each were Sean Boley, Adam Brown, Alex Fuerst, Craig Long and Josh Varno.
  Nick Pfeffenberger picked up the win for Post 323.
  St. Marys is back in action tonight with a game against Lima Post 69 at Simmons Field in Lima.

SWIMMING AND DIVING
Dolphins roll over Seahawks
  The Celina Dolphins swim and dive team posted a sweep in the swim and dive portions of a dual meet with the St. Marys Sea-hawks on June 23 at Bryson Pool.
  Celina won the diving meet with a margin of 73-17, then took the swim meet with a 331-273 decision.
  Dolphin Kelly Mallory won three individual events in the 15-18 Boys Division, setting a team and pool record in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 25.12 seconds. Jasmine Craft of St. Marys also won three events while participating in the Girls 15-18 Division. Other hat trick winners include Eric Adams of Celina (13-14 Boys), St. Marys' Mike Magee (11-12 Boys), Seahawk Domi Craft (11-12 Girls), Celina's Megan Hawk and Elizabeth Laffin (9-10 Girls) and Michaela Wenning (8-Under Girls).
