Norma Mesmer

Maria Stein native Norma Mesmer, 82, died Sept. 1, 2004, in Fulton, N.Y.
   She was born June 9, 1922, in Maria Stein, to Bernard and Rosa Streacker Fullenkamp. She married Leland Mesmer, who died April 19, 1980.
   Survivors are five daughters and a son; a sister, Martha (Robert) Lee; two brothers, Henry (Mary Margaret) Fullenkamp, of Russia, and Othmar (Mary) Fullenkamp, of Maria Stein; 21 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
   Deceased are three brothers and two sisters.
   Funeral Mass was Sept. 7 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Norrisville, N.Y.


Mary Pyles

Mary Margaret "Peggy" Pyles, 91, died at 7:19 a.m. Sept. 10, 2004, at Colonial Nursing Home in Rockford.
   She was born May 28, 1913, in Fairmont, W.Va., to George and Emily Kennedy Cole. She married C. Curry Pyles, who died Dec. 4, 1986.
   Survivors are a son, Dr. Michael (Susan), of Celina; two daughters, Pamela Lou Pyles, of Rockford, and Penelope Sue Pyles, Nitro, W.Va.; a sister, Dorothy Kisner, Morgantown, W.Va.; and two grandchildren.
   Deceased are two brothers, Bill and Kenneth Cole, a sister-in-law, Juanita Cole, and a sister, Virginia Miller.
   She graduated from Kendall College in Evanston, Ill. and from West Virginia University with degrees in English and home economics. She worked as a school teacher and later was a homemaker. She was a member of the Beckley (W.Va.) Federated Women's Club and the Friend of the Library in that town. She was a longtime member of United Methodist Temple in Beckley, W.Va., and had last attended Grace United Methodist Church in St. Marys.
   Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, at the church in Beckley, W.Va., the Rev. Mona Jackson officiating. Burial is at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley.
   Calling is 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church.
   Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys has charge of the arrangements.


Fred Rammel

Fred J. Rammel, 84, 3450 Watkins Road, Fort Recovery, died at 4:12 p.m. Sept. 13, 2004, at his home.
   He was born Nov. 5, 1919, in Sharpsburg, to George and Rosa Klenke Rammel. On Oct. 16, 1946, he married Delma Speck, who survives.
   Other survivors are six sons, Larry (Ginny), of Greenville, Dave (Beck) and Randy (Angie), all of Fort Recovery, Tom (Sandy) and Rick (Phyllis), all of Coldwater, and Steve (Jean), of St. Henry; four daughters, Janice (Herb) Grieshop, of Celina, Sharon (Joe) Dues, Portland, Ind., Marge (Fred) Dues, of Coldwater, and Jane (Paul) Kaverman, Geneva, Ind.; a sister, Helen Aisenbrey, of Fort Recovery; four sisters-in-law, Elenora of New Town, N.D., Irma, of Englewood, Monica, of Brookville, and Norma, of Greenville; two brothers-in-law, Peanuts Werling, of Coldwater, and Willard (Thelma) Speck, of St. Henry; 37 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
   Deceased are three sisters, Rita Livingston, Irene Franck and Mary Jean Werling; four brothers, Richard, Alvin, Herbert and Harold; and a granddaughter.
   He was a retired farmer and had worked at Rammel & Sons Plumbing & Heating in Rossburg, and had also worked at the former Lakefront Racquet Club in Celina. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and the church's Holy Name Society.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Kenneth Alt officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home in Fort Recovery. A Rosary service is set for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to the Cancer Association of Mercer County or State of the Heart Home Health & Hospice.


Dorothy Weitzel

Dorothy A. "Dottie" Weitzel, 73, 215 Eastview Drive, Coldwater, died at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 13, 2004, at her home.
   She was born May 7, 1931, in Shelby County, to Frank and Mary Zimmerman Seger. She married Robert Wetzel, who survives.
   Other survivors are two sons, Tim, of Troy, and Chris (Barb), of Cincinnati; three daughters, Cindy Evers, of Coldwater, Connie (Larry) Kessler, of Fairfield, and Kim (Jim) Stelzer, of Coldwater; a brother-in-law, Ralph Peltier, of Montezuma; three sisters, Hilda Grogean, of Russia, Liz Francis, of Russia, and Alma Harp, of Fort Loramie; a sister-in-law, Pat Seger, of Russia; and 13 grandchildren.
   Deceased are a son, Brad; three brothers, John, Paul and Ben Seger; and two sisters, Louise Willhelm and Esther Peltier.
   She graduated from Good Samaritan School of Nursing in 1952 and had worked as a nurse at the former Gibbons Hospital in Celina and at a local physician's office. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Coldwater and the church's St. Ann's Rosary Altar Sodality. She also was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary units.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater.
   Contributions can be made to the Cancer Association of Mercer County.
