In the fourth, Celina began to put the Indians on the line. The Tribe calmly sank 9-of-12 attempts from the stripe in the final quarter to come away with the win.
Holly Stein made 6-of-8 in the final quarter and 8-of-10 in the game to finish with 16 points to lead the Indians. Krystal Rammel added 11 with Tiff Gaerke contributing 10. Celina, which was playing without Meg Smalley and Liz Homan due to injuries that could cause them to miss the rest of the basketball season, were led by Laura Link's 20 points. Fort Recovery travels to New Bremen on Thursday while Celina remains at home to face a tough Wapakoneta team. Cardinals fall to Bearcats New Bremen fell to 4-12 with a 61-56 loss to Spencerville at Cardinal Gymnasium on Tuesday. The Cardinals were outscored 18-8 in the second quarter to give the Bearcats a 34-22 lead. Kristen Luedeke led the Cardinals with 16 points. Liz Schnelle added 14 for New Bremen. Rachel Youngpeter led the Bearcats with 23. Anna Raines added 16 with Jessica Vorst finishing with 14. Fort Recovery is at New Bremen on Thursday.

Panthers fall again Parkway dropped to 1-16 with a 71-26 loss to Delphos Jefferson on Tuesday. The Jeff-Cats improve to 14-3 with the win. The Panthers managed just four points in the opening quarter and two in the second to trail 41-6 at the break. Tiffany Steinbrunner led Parkway with 12 points. Brooke Bowers led Jefferson with 16 points. Parkway hosts Versailles on Thursday.

JUNIOR HIGH BASKETBALL Bulldogs split with Redskins The Celina Middle School boys basketball teams went 1-1 in a pair of games against Wapakoneta on Tuesday. The seventh-grade lost to the Redskins 35-23. Darrin Waterman led Celina (5-7) with six points. Austin Freeman and Adam Carr each added four. In the eighth-grade game, Derek Gagle scored 31 as Celina won 36-29. Aaron Schmitt added five points for the Bulldogs, who are now -5. Celina played Shawnee on Thursday. |
