Betty Brunswick

Betty Brunswick, 98, 2566 Burkettsville-St. Henry Road, St. Henry, died at 3:50 p.m. March 8, 2005, at The Gardens at St. Henry.
   She was born March 3, 1907, in St. Henry, to John and Rose Mueller Geier. On May 4, 1938, she married Raymond A. Brunswick who died Nov. 3, 1987.
   Surviving are four daughters, Margaret (Dan) Rinderle and Jane (Ron) Moeller, all of St. Henry, Mary (David) Reichert, St. Charles, Mo., and Barb Teglas, Coldwater; 12 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are two brothers, Leo Geier and Ed Miller; four sisters, Lona and Ida Geier, Amelia Bruns and Helen Kunk; and a grandchild.
   She was a homemaker and a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Sodality, both of St. Henry.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Larry Wyen officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10:15 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
   Contributions can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.


Bonnie Goens

Bonnie Goens, 62, 1818 Kishler Drive, St. Marys, died at 4:55 a.m. March 8, 2005, at her home following an extended illness.
   She was born July 29, 1942, in Wapakoneta, to Wilbur and Mary Market Kohler. Her mother survives in Wapakoneta. On Oct. 2, 1965, she married Marshall Goens who survives.
   Other survivors include three daughters, Marsha (Bill) Uchimoto, Berwyn, Pa., Melinda (Terry) Krauss, New Bremen, and Michelle (William) Davies, Lewis Center; two sisters, Diane (Stan) Zwiebel, Shawnee, and Susan (Gary) Schneider, Botkins; and seven grandchildren.
   She retired as personnel manager at K-mart in St. Marys. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Altar Sodality and a local card club, all of St. Marys, and a 1960 graduate of St. Joseph High School, Wapakoneta.
   Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Tony Cutcher officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
   Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.
   Contributions can be made to the church, St. Rita's Hospice or Joint Township Home Health.


Gussie Melk

Gussie M. Melk, 93, 12512 state Route 362, Minster, died at 2:45 p.m. March 8, 2005, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
   She was born Oct. 9, 1911, in Blanchester, to Walter and Hazel Dudley Garrison. On June 4, 1947, she married Clifford Melk who died Sept. 22, 1983.
   Surviving are a son, Richard (Sandra) Goodwin, Elizabeth, Ind.; a daughter, Harriet Macinski, Florence, Ky.; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
   Deceased is a daughter, Florence Heib; a brother, Bill Garrison; a sister, Caroline Turner; and a grandchild.
   She formerly worked in sales and served as an American Legion Auxiliary chaplain and a volunteer at Lima Correctional Institution.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Fort Loramie, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
   Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.


Delorse Prater

Delorse Prater, 76, formerly of 820 Greenvale Ave., St. Marys, died March 8, 2005, at Lima Memorial Hospital. She had resided at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys, the past eight years.
   She was born July 14, 1928, in Knott County, Ky., to William and Minerva Lewis Tuttle. She previously was married to Robert Prater Sr. who survives in Wilkesville.
   Also surviving are a son, Robert (Pam) of St. Marys; a daughter, Deborah (Robert) Otting, Minster; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
   Deceased are a son, David; nine brothers, Corbin, Jimmy, Estel, Emmitt, Rufus, Thomas C., Dave, Carlie and Ruben; four sisters, Ada, Fannie, Minnie and Virgie; and two grandchildren.
   She retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and attended Garden of Love Old Regular Baptist Church, both of St. Marys. She had attended Alice Lloyd College.
   Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, Brother Gary Mosley officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens near St. Marys.
   Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to the Valley Nursing Home Resident Council Fund.
