Hilda Axe

Hilda Ann Axe, 83, 3860 Philothea Road, Coldwater, died March 11, 2005, at home.
   She was born March 11, 1922, in Mercer County, to Joseph and Mary Post Wenning. On Sept. 6, 1941, she married Charles Axe, who died June 14, 2000.
   Survivors include a son, Larry (Ginny), McCartyville; a daughter, Linda (Michael) Braun, Coldwater; two brothers, Kenneth Wenning, McCartyville, and Mark (Joan) Wenning, St. Henry; four sisters, Rosemary Muhlenkamp and Madonna (Joe) Rose, both of Coldwater, Bernice Barge, Montezuma, and Virginia Streacker, Florida; three sisters-in-law, Alberta Wenning and Betty Wenning, Coldwater, and Mary Moeller, Celina; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
   She was preceded in death by three brothers, Isadore, Norbert and Louis; three sisters, Julietta Muhlenkamp, Rita Wenning, and Martha Rawley; two infant siblings; and a grandchild.
   She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, Philothea, and a member of the Ladies Altar Sodality of the church. She had worked at Goodyear in St. Marys, and at Beatrice Foods in New Bremen.
   Services are at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Ronald Wilker officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
   Calling is from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, and from 1-2 p.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.


Lois Zirkle

Lois Irene Zirkle, 82, rural Venedocia, died at 2:30 p.m. March 10, 2005, at her home following an extended illness.
   She was born Aug. 12, 1922, in Middle Point, to Clarence and Elizabeth Mapes Ringwald. On March 28, 1943, she married James C. Zirkle, who survives.
   Other survivors include a son, Richard M., Van Wert; two daughters, Janet E. (Bob) Zuber, Spencerville, and Beth Ann (Richard) Clement, rural Venedocia; two brothers, Bill (Della) Ringwald, Fort Meade, Fla, and Clarence Ringwald, Van Wert; three sisters, Edith Kundert, Delphos, Helen (John) Stutz, Venedocia, and Mary Lou Butler, Van Wert; two sisters-in-law, Juanita Ringwald, Van Wert, and Virginia Ringwald, Delano, Minn; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
   She was preceded in death by a great-grandchild; and two brothers, John and Ralph Ringwald.
   A 1940 graduate of Middle Point High School, she worked with her husband on the family farm. She was a member of the Middle Point Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of its women's association. She was also a member of the Van Wert County Farm Bureau.
   Services are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, with her nephew Glenn Hux officiating. Burial will follow at Wright Cemetery, near Converse.
   Calling is from 2-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
   Memorials can be directed to the Delphos Area Hospice/Visiting Nurses.
