Esther Bastian

Esther Jeanette "Jenny" Bastian, 75, of Pandora, died March 16, 2005, at her home.
   She was born June 24, 1929, in Elida, to Jacob and Barbara Culp Shenk. In 1947, she married Max Baxter who died in 1952. In 1955, she married Mike Bastian, who has relatives in Mercer County. He survives.
   Also surviving are two sons, Barry C. (Judy) Bastian, Toledo, and Gregory A. Bastian, Waterloo, Iowa; two daughters, Dana M. Packwood, Colorado, and Laura C. Bastian, Toledo; four brothers, including her two Lester (Helen) Shenk, Oral Shenk, Tim (Marge) Shenk and William Shenk and a sister, Cretora (Roland) Alexander, all of Lima; two brothers-in-law, Keith (Alice) Bastian, Lima, and Vernon Hertzler, Harrisonburg, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Grace Shenk, Lima, and Janice (Richard) Towns, Wyoming; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are a son-in-law, Gary Packwood; four brothers, Rollin Shenk, Merlin (Lucille) Shenk, Warren Shenk and Edwin Shenk; two sisters, Nellie Heinrich and Alice Hertzler; a sister-in-law, Pauline Shenk; and a granddaughter.
   She worked at Sylvania for nine years, graduated from Gomer High School and was a member of Columbus Grove United Church of Christ and the Bluffton Senior Citizens.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, Pastor Don Sadler officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Delphos.
   Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to Hospice of Putnam County or St. Rita's Medical Center.


Eloise Morrow

Eloise Frahm Morrow, 80, of Celina, died March 16, 2005, in Kissimmee, Fla.
   Arrangements are pending.


George Painter

George Fred Painter, 87, 116 S. Main St., Mendon, died at 7:30 a.m. March 16, 2005, at The Gardens at Celina.
   He was born Sept. 27, 1917, in Tama, to James H. and Lula Hines Painter. On Jan. 11, 1947, he married Wilma Metz who survives.
   Also surviving are a daughter, Sandra K. (Ken) Dershaw, St. Marys; a brother, Harold of Mendon; a sister-in-law, Elma Painter, Mendon; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
   A brother, Paul, and a sister, Betty Rasawehr, are deceased.
   He retired from the Mercer County Highway Department in 1976 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Mendon United Methodist Church and Celina American Legion Post 210.
   Services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Revs. Paul Bunnell and Dean Bruce officiating. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery.
   Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.


Mary Steinbrunner

Mary Steinbrunner, 82, formerly of 124 W. Warren St., Celina, died March 16, 2005, at Miller House Assisted Living, Celina.
   She was born April 3, 1922, in New Corydon, Ind., to Troy and Gertrude Holmes Huey. On Dec. 24, 1944, she married Henry Steinbrunner who died Dec. 16, 1987.
   Surviving are three sons, James (Pat), Melvin (Martha) and Gary, all of Celina; a daughter, Connie of Celina; 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
   Deceased are a son, Lawrence; a daughter, Marcella Guntle; nine brothers and two sisters.
   She retired from Huffy Manufacturing Co., Celina, after 32 years of service and was an associate member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles, all of Celina.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Robert Metheny officiating. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to State of the Heart Home Health & Hospice or the Center for Neurological Development, Burkettsville.
