A special meeting of the Celina City Schools board of education on Monday is slated to focus on the dismissal of a district employee.
District board member Mary Lehman declined comment on the identity of the employee in question, but did confirm that teacher John Hendricks is the only employee on administrative leave of absence at this time. Hendricks, who also was the high school girls softball coach, was under investigation by the Mercer County Sheriff's office.
Hendricks was placed on the paid leave in early February after the school had a complaint of alleged improper communication with a student.
Grey said Friday morning the investigation has been completed and the findings have been turned over to the school. Grey said he does not anticipate any charges being filed against Hendricks in Mercer County. However, the investigation was not confined to only Mercer County.
"We spoke to people in other Ohio counties as well as Indiana," said Grey, adding he would not comment on what information developed outside Mercer County. "It is not appropriate for us to draw conclusions about what may have happened outside our county." Hendricks was hired by the district at the beginning of the 1998-99 school year. He is listed as junior and senior computer support technology teacher at Tri Star Career Compact. Celina school board oversees the employees of Tri Star because the city school district is the fiscal agent of Tri Star.
Prior to coming to Celina, Hendricks was employed at a school in Cincinnati and before that he worked in the Jay County, Ind., school system.
The Monday meeting is at noon in the conference room of the Celina Education Complex.
