Two local school superintendents are among 27 applicants for the top position at New Albany-Plain Local school district, a 3,300-student district northeast of Columbus.

Marion Local Schools Superintendent Andrew Smith and Mercer County Educational Service Center Superintendent Eugene Linton are seeking the job posted at $120,000 annually.
Smith, who is in his fifth year at Marion Local, currently earns an annual salary of $87,558. Linton is paid $91,055 annually and has been with the local ESC for about 10 years.
The New Albany position became available Jan. 1, when Superintendent Ralph Johnson retired after 12 years with the district. He is serving as interim superintendent until July 31.
The application deadline expired on Feb. 7.  "No applicants have been eliminated," Pam Stineman, human resources assistant for the district told the newspaper Friday.
The successful applicant will assume the superintendent's job on Aug. 1.
