Chain-reaction

A3 / Janie Southard

A Celina Fire Department truck stands near one of three vehicles involved in a chain-reaction accident at 6:05 a.m. today on state Route 29 at Havemann Road. An eastbound semitrailer driven by James Hambrock, 54, of Ridgeville, Ind., came across a hill and tried unsuccessfully to stop before striking the rear of a pickup truck driven by Jeffrey Joseph, 38, 1103 Sunset Drive, Celina. The Joseph truck was pushed into the rear of another pickup truck driven by David Cooper, 43, 651 N. Mill St., Celina. The two pickup truck drivers, who had been stopped for a traffic light at the intersection, were taken by ambulance to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. Hambrock was cited for an assured clear distance violation and all three vehicles were towed from the scene.
