Some lane restrictions are expected this summer along state Route 219 east of Montezuma as that road gets a $3 million facelift, courtesy of the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Work crews move back electric poles along state Route 219 east of Montezuma in preparation for a road-widening project. State Route 219 will be widened from the Franklin school building to Behm's Road. Ohio Department of Transportation is in charge of the project and also plans to construct a bike path along the road.<br>dailystandard.com
The road north from the intersection at the Franklin school building continuing about five miles to Behm Road will be widened and resurfaced. Additionally, a bike path will be constructed from the intersection by the school to Karafit Road to join the existing bike path extending to Windy Point.
Lead contractor, Shelly Company of Thornville, will conduct a preconstruction meeting Thursday morning, which will determine many project details such as if the road will have to be closed at any time.
"Should a closure be necessary, I will get that word to appropriate news outlets," said Barb Elliston of ODOT's Sidney district office.
Elliston said funding from the project comes from several federal sources as well as $25,510 from local government funds, namely Franklin Township.  Completion target date is Oct. 31, weather permitting.
