09-02-05 Celina, Coldwater take team titles

  The meet was originally scheduled to run on Tuesday, but the heavy rain and wind prompted a postponement until yesterday.
Coldwater's David Wilker is now a three-time champion of the Mercer County cross country meet after claiming the boy's race title again on Thursday leading the Cavaliers to the team titlte.<br>dailystandard.com
  The Coldwater boys dominated their way to the county title, coming in with 24 points.
  Celina was second with 46 with St. Henry third with 63. Marion Local (113) and Fort Recovery (123) rounded out the standings.
  David Wilker won the boy's individual race for the third straight season in helping to guide the Cavaliers to the win and teammate Jamie Kuess was second. Shawn Caruso was the first Celina runner across the finish line in third place and teammate Isaac Niekamp was fourth. Doug Ranly paced St. Henry in fifth place and Jordan Schmackers paced Marion Local in 11th.
  In the girl's race, it was another Cavalier that was victorious.  Coldwater's Ashley Kanney won the race, the second straight year a Cavalier lady finished first, but it was Celina with its top five runners finishing in the top 30 that earned the Buldogs the team title, edging Coldwater 42-49.
  Marion was close behind with 58 points while Fort Recovery had 73 points with St. Henry coming in with 135.
  Jenn Blacketer paced the Celina girls with a second-place finish.
  The Bulldogs' Melissa Roth was third with Heather Petrie and Amanda Smith fifth and sixth.
  Tasha Stucke placed fourth for Coldwater while Emily Wuebker paced Marion Local in seventh and Sandra Sudhoff led Fort Recovery in 13th.
  Coldwater's boys and Marion Local's girls won the junior high races.

  Most of the county teams will be in Darke County on Saturday to take part in the Treaty City Invitational in Greenville.
