Through the park

Five-foot concrete pipe waits to be installed in Buck Ditch that runs through Ambassador Park in Fort Recovery. Excavation for the ditch project started Friday with completion expected in a couple of weeks. The $100,000 project is being paid for with a $25,000 Community Development Block Grant and $75,000 from the village's storm sewer levy and general funds. The Buck Ditch project is another step toward the separation of storm water and sanitary sewer lines in the village. Eventually the estimated 700-foot section of the ditch, from the Wabash River to Ambassador Park, will handle only storm drainage. The village currently is working on the next step, approval of the separation plan by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. Upon approval, South Wayne Street will be the next area for separation of lines, almost completing separation of sanitary and storm lines in the southwest corner of the village.
