Rev. Donald Bachman

Former Celina pastor Rev. Donald Reed Bachman, 85, of Columbus, died Sept. 12, 2006, at Whetstone Care Center, Columbus.
   He was born June 26, 1921, in Canal Winchester, to A. Russell and Lillian Reed Bachman. On June 6, 1943, he married Wilda Gibbon, who survives.
   Also surviving are a son, Don R. (Edie) Jr., Circleville; a daughter, Joan (Bryan) Swensen, Carrolton, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Alison, Berea, Ky.; a brother, Dale (Beth), Hudson, Fla.; and nine grandchildren.
   Deceased are a son, David Sr. and three brothers.
   He served from 1960-65 at St. John Lutheran Church, Celina, during construction and dedication of "the church with the purple doors" on North Main St. He was a senior pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church, Marysville, until retirement in 1983, when he was confirmed pastor emeritus status by American Lutheran Church. He also served at First English, Peoria, Ill.; St. Mark's, Chillicothe, Ill.; Bethany Manor, Washington, Ill.; St. Matthew's, Indianapolis, Ind.; and Holy Cross, Fairfield.
   He received his bachelor's of arts at Capital University in 1943; he graduated in 1945 from Evangelical Lutheran Theological Seminary and was ordained June 3, 1945, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Columbus.
   Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Marysville, the Revs. Barry Scott and Terry Morgan officiating. Private burial is Monday at Oakdale Cemetery, Marysville.
   Calling is 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Mannasmith Funeral Home, Marysville and after 1 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Lucy Hoelscher

Lucy M. Hoelscher, 92, of Celina, died at 11:40 p.m. Sept. 12, 2006, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
   She was born Oct. 16, 1913, in St. Henry, to Lawrence and Mary Gelhaus Franck. On Oct. 18, 1933, she married Alfred H. Hoelscher, who died Oct. 29, 2000.
   Survivors are a son, Michael (Shirley), Celina; a sister, Eileen Gaerke, Portland, Ind.; three sisters-in-law, Luella, Rita and Laura Franck, all of Celina; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are two sons, David and Samuel Hoelscher; eight brothers, Ray, Ferd, Ed, Leo, Florence, Walter, Malcolm and Paul Franck; and a sister, Genevieve Stachler.
   She was a homemaker and member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and its ladies sodality, Celina.
   Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial is at St. Aloyisius Cemetery, Carthagena.
   Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina.

Everett Jump

Everett F. Jump, 88, 1017 Edward St., St. Marys, died at 11:43 a.m. Sept. 12, 2006, at Wapakoneta Manor.
   He was born June 11, 1918, in Mexico, Ohio, to Wilson and Estella Jump. On Oct. 8, 1941, he married Margueritte Yeager, who died Feb. 21, 2001.
   Survivors are fiance, Caroline Horn, Winchester, Ind.; two sons, Jim (Leesa), Naperville, Ill., and David (Eileen), Columbus; two daughters, Linda (Larry) Wahrer, Jackson Center, and Jenny (Bill) Grubey, Muncie, Ind.; a sister, Lois (Gus) Rowe, Baldwinsville, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Dick (Virginia) Yeager, Tiffin; two sisters-in-law, Vernita, of Clyde, and Betty, of Sidney; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are seven brothers, Laurel, Virgil, Dale, Paul, Harold, Ray and Edward; and a sister, Helen.
   He retired from Beatrice Foods Corp., where he was plant superintendent in New Bremen. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate of Forrest High School and attended Penn State University. He was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church, St. Marys; and Free & Accepted Masons Mercer Lodge 121.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Mary Kay Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
   Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.

William Sibert

Celina native William A. Sibert, 93, of Sidney, died at 4:15 p.m. Sept. 12, 2006, at Fair Haven County Home, Sidney.
   He was born May 10, 1913, in Celina, to Stephen and Eva Andrews Sibert. On March 28, 1934, he married Juanita M. Kendall, who died March 28, 2005.
   Survivors are a son, Robert (Ruby), Sidney; a sister, Betty Jean Garman, town unknown; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are two brothers and three sisters.
   He was a mechanic at Wright Patterson Air Force Base; a former service manager at Wentz Chevrolet, Sidney; and worked at Ross Aluminum where he retired in 1978. He was a member of the Shelby County Deer Hunters.
   Graveside service is 11:30 a.m. Friday at Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson, the Rev. Joe F. Pumphrey officiating.
   Calling is 10-11 a.m. Friday at Cromes Funeral Home, Sidney.

Mildred Staugler

Mildred L. Staugler, 81, of Celina, died at 2:50 a.m. Sept. 14, 2006, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
   Arrangements are pending at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home, Celina.


Services for Leo Levi were Sept. 12, 2006, at New Life Apostolic Church, the Rev. Larry Fries officiated. Organist was Mary Kay Fries.
   Pallbearers to Swamp College Cemetery, Celina, were Gary Jo Levi, Jerame Kennedy, Tony Heindel, David Lockwood and Kevin Harvey.
   Arrangements are by Cisco Funeral Home, Celina.
