Several state agencies and legislative officials held an event at Wright State Lake Campus Monday to announce plans to clean up the water of Grand Lake. Dignitaries that spoke to the audience of almost 200 were: Sean Logan, Ohio Department of Natural Resources Director; Robert Boggs, Ohio Department of Agriculture Director; Chris Korleski, Ohio Environmental Protection Agency Director; Terry Cosby, State Conservationist; Dave Hanes, Mercer Landmark; Jim Zehringer, State Representative; John Adams, State Representative; and Keith Faber, State Senator. For forty minutes, these officials talked about how they were all on the same page and ready to support "the plan." But none of these officials pointed out a table at the side of the room that held stacks of seven page reports titled "Grand Lake St. Marys & its Watershed: Water Quality Improvement Initiatives." When Logan attempted to adjourn the discussion, some audience members objected to not hearing any specific plan. Finally, David Hanselmann, Ohio Soil and Water Conservation Chief, was brought to the podium and gave specifics of the plan. Further coverage is in Tuesday's Daily Standard.
