A gravel parking lot off of US 127 south of Celina, normally only used by a few fishermen and dump trucks carrying stone, is now packed with a dozen Sheriff, Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Ohio Department of Natural Resources and other vehicles.

On Sunday, a local woman who was hiking in the wooded area between the lake and the highway, near the confluence of Coldwater Creek and Grand Lake, discovered what she thought were human bones. A call to the Sheriff's office started an investigation.

A bone inspected by the Montgomery County Coroners Office early this week led Sheriff Grey to say "There is a high probability that it was a human bone."

At a press conference on Wednesday, Sheriff Jeff Grey said "If it does turn out that they are human bones, that's somebody's family member…Somebody's out there searching for somebody, and we have to do everything we can to determine who it is and find out what happened."

The investigation continued Thursday with a K9 search team combing the area along with BCI and Sheriff's department staff.

When the search is finished, the bones will be transported to an expert at an out-of-state university to determine definitively whether the remains are human.
