Health, safety workers get first COVID vaccine

CELINA - Recipients described their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as quick, easy and painless during the county's first vaccination clinic for Phase 1A groups on Wednesday morning.
Mercer County Health District officials were enthusiastic and emotional when asked for their thoughts on the long-anticipated clinic. Director of nursing Julia Shaffer stifled tears as she expressed her excitement. [More]

COLUMBUS - The Ohio Supreme Court has denied a motion to reconsider the case of Charles Summers against the Mercer County Prosecutor's and Sheriff's offices, maintaining that county officials must release certain documents as a matter of public record.
CELINA - Six new COVID-19 deaths were reported in Mercer and Auglaize counties.
Three deaths and 24 new cases of COVID-19 raised Mercer County's death toll to 65 and the total number of cases to 3,354 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Marion Local defeats Coldwater for first championship since 2016
COLDWATER - For the first three quarters, it was a back-and-forth game, but in the fourth Marion Local put the game on ice.
The Flyers took a five-point lead into the fourth and turned it into a 41-29 victory over Coldwater to win the Asset Allocation Associates Holiday Classic.
