The Moon and the planet Venus shine brightly together in this picture taken in Celina just after sunset on Christmas day. Venus is the bright dot in the left side. In the lower left is the Moon appearing as a dimly lit circle and bright crescent. The dim disk of the Moon is visible due to sunlight reflected off the Earth, hitting the Moon and again reflecting back to Earth. The fuzzy crescent in the upper right and the fuzzy dot on the left are optical artifacts of the camera lens.
