Clara Brown

Clara L. Brown, 91, of Wapakoneta, died at 8:05 a.m. Nov. 30, 2005, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
   She was born Dec. 14, 1913, in Mercer County, to Henry and Laura Mae Wert Copeland. In 1934, she married Ross O. Brown, who is deceased.
   Survivors are a son, Robert O. (Kathy) of Waynesfield and Hobe Sound, Fla.; three daughters, Betty Ridenour, Waynesfield, Marcia (Joe) Bowman, St. Marys, and Donna Jean (Doug) Luedy, Mansfield; a sister, Carlie Cunningham, Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Mildred Copeland, Wapakoneta; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
   Deceased are two brothers, Clarence and Carl Copeland.
   She was a homemaker and graduate of the former Rockford High School.
   She was a member of Waynesfield United Methodist Church and active in her Sunday school class and a member of Woman's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU).
   Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Kathleen Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Branch Cemetery.
   Calling is 3-8 p.m. Friday at Armentrout Funeral Home, Waynesfield, and noon Saturday at the church.
   Contributions can be made to the church.


Catherine Hartnagel

Catherine I. Hartnagel, 87, formerly of Bryant, Ind., died at 7:10 p.m. Nov. 30, 2005, at Jay County Hospital, Portland, Ind.
   Arrangements are pending at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.


James Hawk

James "Jim" Hawk, 63, of Waynesfield, died at 2:35 a.m. Nov. 30, 2005, at Lima Memorial Health System of natural causes.
   He was born Aug. 26, 1942, in Lima, to Leonard E. and Blenna Mary Jackson Hawk. On June 21, 1969, he married Margaret M. Fauhl, who survives.
   Also surviving are two sons, Daniel of Waynesfield, and Joseph (Nicole) of Fort Recovery; three sisters, Margaret Kolene (Charles) Bourne, Lima, Blenna Marlene (LeRoy) Spence, Waynesfield, and Donna Arlene (Michael) Bruno, Auburndale, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
   He was a dairy farmer and a commercial truck driver. He graduate in 1962 from Bath High School and attended Waynesfield Baptist Church.
   Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Armentrout Funeral Home, Waynesfield, the Rev. Don Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to the church, Wayne Township Fire/EMS or Renal Services at Lima Memorial Hospital.


Robert Hertz

Robert J. Hertz, 42, 11918 state Route 47 East, Versailles, died Nov. 28, 2005, at his residence. A cause of death is pending an autopsy.
   He was born March 13, 1963, in Columbus to Melvin and Carma Reynolds Hertz. On Oct. 2, 2005, he married St. Marys native, Betty Duer Hertz, who survives.
   He was a professional firefighter/paramedic at West Licking Fire District and was employed as a fire safety inspector with the State of Ohio Fire Marshall's Office.
   Services are 8 p.m. Friday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Bill Maki officiating.
   Calling is 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mary Krick

Mary Martha Krick, 78, 515 Lakeshore Drive, Celina, died at 10:15 a.m. Nov. 30, 2005, at her residence.
   She was born Aug. 16, 1927, in Mercer County, to Albert and Mamie Dinges Noack. On June 15, 1946, she married Robert P. Krick, who sur-vives.
   Also surviving are a son, Tom (Candy) of Celina; two daughters, Luwanna (Dan) Klosterman and Lou Anna (Doug) Ellis, both of Celina; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are a sister, Elizabeth Black, and a brother, Robert Noack.
   She was the bookkeeper for Bob's Audio-Video, Celina, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 5713, American Legion Auxiliary 210 and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge Ladies Auxiliary, all of Celina.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Martin Krick officiating. Burial is at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
   Contributions can be made to Celina Visiting Nurses and Hospice.


Emma Sellards

Former Celina resident Emma A. Sellards, 83, of Greenville, died at 8:20 a.m. Nov. 30, 2005, at Brethren Retirement Home, Greenville.
   She was born Feb. 20, 1922, in Cedarville, to Joseph and Grace Cameron Kennon.
   Surviving are a daughter, Tannis Abbott, Bradford; three sisters, Betty Gaylord, Venice, Fla., Christine Crooker, Milwaukee, Ore., and Estella Smith, Xenia; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
   Deceased is a grandchild.
   She was a homemaker.
   Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater, the Rev. James Dugal officiating. Burial is at St. Louis Cemetery, North Star.
   Calling is 4-7 p.m. Friday and 9-9:45 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.


Evelyn Shaner

Evelyn Murray Shaner, 68, died Nov. 23, 2005 in Columbia, Ga.
   She was born on Jan. 2, 1937, in Blackshear, Ga., to George W. and Gladys M. Murray. She married Celina native Boyd Lavern Shaner, who survives.
   Also surviving are two sons, Boyd Jr. (Lee) of Columbia, and Charles (Cindy) of Lexington, Ga.; a daughter, Vickie S. (Wade) Pierce of West Columbia, Ga.; two brothers, William Murray of Hopkins, Ga. and Walter Murray of North Carolina; four sisters, Edith Crisp of Columbia, Ruth Davenport of Cayce, Ga., Sarah Craft of South Carolina and Barbara Burdic of Hopkins, Ga.; a brother-in- law, Leon (Laurie) Shaner, Celina; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
   She retired as a home day care owner and was a member of Temple Baptist Church of Columbia.
   Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Nov. 26, at the church with the Rev. James W. Salters officiating. Burial followed in Greenlawn Memorial Park of Columbia.


Dana Smead

Dana Lee Smead, 58, of Rockford, died at 3:20 a.m. Nov. 30, 2005, at Shane Hill Nursing Home, Rockford. Death was due to cancer.
   He was born June 21, 1947, in Covington, Ky., to Earl and Louise Smead.
   Survivors are an uncle, James C. Boggs, Pinnellas Park, Fla., and an aunt, Juanita Garcia, St. Petersburg, Fla.
   He was a U.S. Marine and Vietnam War veteran.
   No services will be held.
   His body was donated to Wright State University for research.


Herbert Tobe

Herbert B. Tobe, 80, of 2632 Fort Recovery-Minster Road, Fort Recovery, died Nov. 30, 2005, at Versailles Health Care Center.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday at Brockman & Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
