Marcella Dock

Marcella Dock, 89, of Kalamazoo, Mich., died the evening of Aug. 22, 2006, at Friendship Village, Kalamazoo.
   Arrangements are pending at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral home, Celina.


Edna Von Gunten

Edna V. Von Gunten, 87, of St. Marys, died at 7 a.m. Aug. 21, 2006, at her daughter's home in St. Marys.
   She was born June 29, 1919, in Wayne County, to Joseph and Martha Yoder Berkey. On April 30, 1939, she married Fred Von Gunten, who died in 2003.
   Survivors are two daughters, Connie (Robert) Gilliom, Paoli, Ind., and Sally Eaton, St. Marys; a sister, Margaret Berkey, Wooster; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
   Deceased are seven brothers, Frank, Marion, Lewis, Wilbur, Roger, Joseph and Benjamin; two sisters, Mabel and Edith; and a son-in-law, John Eaton.
   She was a former employee of Schindler Electric, Sprunger & Lehman Clothing Store, Mennonite Book Concern and Giffords IGA, all of the Berne, Ind., area. She was a member of First Mennonite Church, Berne.
   Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, the Revs. Ray Keim and Harold Nussbaum officiating. Burial is at MRE Cemetery, Berne.
   Calling is 3-8 p.m. Friday at Yager Kirchofer Funeral Home, Berne, Ind. and after 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
   Contributions can be made to the church or Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana.


Alvera Meyer

Former McCartyville resident Alvera "Vera" Meyer, 82, died at 2:45 p.m. Aug. 22, 2006, at Dorothy Love Retirement Community, Sidney. She was in the home for a year and a half.
   She was born July 4, 1924, in Fort Loramie, to Frank and Elizabeth Ernst Barhorst. On April 11, 1944, she married Urban J. Meyer, who died March 17, 1998.
   Survivors are four daughters, Marlene (John) Fridley, New Baden, Ill., Janet (Paul) Snyder, Anna, Barbara (Edward) Kissenger, Versailles, and Judy (Mike) Jurosic, Wapakoneta; a brother, Vernon (Treve) Barhorst, Minster; a sister, Ida Thobe, Fort Recovery; two sisters-in-law, Romilda Barhorst, Versailles, and Sally Barhorst, Sidney; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
   Deceased are two brothers, two sisters, and a grandchild.
   She retired from Autokraft Box Factory, Minster, and made rosaries for 55 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and its ladies sodality, McCartyville and belonged to several card clubs.
   Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Revs. Pat Welsh and Nick Jurosic officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
   Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
   Contributions can be made to Booneville Kentucky Mission Church.
