Frank Fortkamp
Frank H. Fortkamp, 84, 6660 state Route 119, Maria Stein, died at 8:55 a.m. Sept. 21, 2006, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
He was born April 26, 1922, in St. Rose, to Frank and Josephine Hartings Fortkamp. On July 14, 1948, he married Lorena Frenzer, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Charles (Sandy) and Gary (Beth), all of Maria Stein, and Robert (Jane), Dublin; a daughter, Susan, Maria Stein; two brothers-in-law, Sylvester Bruggeman and Leo Mescher, both of St. Henry, two sisters-in-law, Marian Fortkamp, St. Rose, and Helen Mescher, Coldwater; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are five brothers, Herman, Norbert, Ray, Lee and Ed; and four sisters, Bernadine Mueller, Regina Fortkamp, Erma Bruggeman and one in infancy.
He worked at New Idea, Coldwater, was a milk hauler for Pet Milk, Coldwater, and retired in 1986 as co-owner of Bomholt & Sons Implement Dealership, St. Rose. He was a 1940 graduate of Minster High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Cassella, and its men's holy name society and was a former Eucharistic distributor at the church. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 571, Maria Stein and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9019, Chickasaw.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Harry Cavanaugh officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-9:45 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
