Darrell A. Hefner, 66, of 205 Sugar Street, Waynesfield, died 4:01 a.m. March 1, 2009, at Lima Memorial Health System.

He was born Jan. 21, 1943, in Wayne, Mich., to Merald and Lois Drury Hefner. On March 1, 1966, he married Sheila L. McClanahan, who survives.

Other survivors are a son, David (Melissa), Waynesfield; two daughters, Leslie (Bill) Kruse, Wapakoneta; and Shannon Powers, Waynesfield: a brother-in-law, David McClanahan, Cridersville; a sister-in-law, Robin (Dave) Daley, Cairo; and nine grandchildren.

Deceased are a sister, Phyllis Hardin and his father and mother-in-law, Lester and Dollie McClanahan.

He retired from General Aluminum Manufacturing Corporation, Wapakoneta, where he was an x-ray technician. He had worked for many years at Teledyne/Ohio Steel Corporation, Lima. He was a member of the Waynesfield Baptist Church and the American Legion Posts in both Waynesfield and Wapakoneta. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a 1961 graduate of Harrod High School.

Services are 4 p.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Don Smith officiating. Private family burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery, near New Hampshire.

Calling is after 2 p.m. Thursday at the church where contributions may be made.
