The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Mary Ida Platfoot
Mary Ida Platfoot, 65, state Route 47, Houston, died at 9:45 a.m. May 6, 2009, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born Jan. 20, 1944, in Sidney to Florence Walfrom and Elmer Seger. On May 4, 1963, she married Roger E. Platfoot, who died May 27, 2000.
Surviving are four children, Mary Ann (Andy) Stevenson, Botkins, Theresa Platfoot, Houston, Eileen (Philip) Knief, New Bremen, and Phyllis (Jeffry) Clark, Houston; three siblings, Ray (Marlene) Seger, Covington, John (Barb) Seger, Fort Loramie, and Charles Seger, Yorkshire; two brothers-in-law, Roger Bey, St. Patrick, and Norman Grisez, Piqua; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Seger, Sidney, and Naomi Seger, Lansing, Mich; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Joyce Platfoot; three brothers, Bob, Jim and Art Platfoot; two sisters, Marie Bey and Norma Grisez; and a grandson.
She retired in 1997 from Marwil Products, Fort Loramie, where she had worked for 19 years. She also was a homemaker, a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Newport, the Fort Loramie American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Minster Fraternal Order of Eagles. She graduated in 1962 from Fort Loramie High School.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie.
