Marvin Ray
Marvin Eugene Ray, 85, Rismiller Road, North Star, died at 5:22 a.m. March 27, 2010, at Briarwood Village in Coldwater. He had lived at the Versailles Health Care Center and Briarwood Village in Coldwater.
He was born April 28, 1924, in Dayton, to Grover Thurman and Melvina Mariah Dulaney Ray. On June 12, 1946, he married Loretta Grewe, who is deceased.
Surviving are a son, Mahlon (Monica) Ray, Columbus; three daughters, Maretta (Michael) Kalinich, Corning, N.Y., Rachael Henderson, Celina, and Jana (Doug) Reed, Jackson; a brother, Garvin Duane Ray, Spokane Valley, Wash.; a sister, Bonnie Marie Ray, Belleview, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Grewe, Versailles; 14 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Thurman Leslie Ray and Earl Arthur Ray.
He was a 1942 graduate of Hollansburg-Westmont High School and served in the Army Air Force. He retired from farming in 1976 and retired in 1986 from Fram Corp in Greenville after 20 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Buckeye Post 174, North Star, and the Pampa Army-Air Field Reunion Association.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, near North Star, the Rev. Laura Shreffler officiating. Burial with military honors by the North Star Honor Guard will be at St. Paul's Cemetery in Versailles.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Contributions can be made to the church building fund, State of the Heart Hospice or Freedom Museum USA in Pampa, Texas.
Arrangements are being handled by Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles.
