Mary Thobe
Mary Jane Thobe, 89, Greenville, died at 3:15 a.m. Sept. 8, 2010, at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.
She was born March 23, 1921, in Sidney, to Leo and Agnes Voisard Thobe.
Surviving are four brothers, Francis (Georgene) Thobe, Sidney, Cletus Thobe, Piqua, Herman (Maxine) Thobe, Houston, and Jerry (Mary) Thobe, Tipp City; a sister, Janice (Jim) Sommer, Tipp City; and a brother-in-law, Jim Warner, Greenville.
Deceased is her stepmother, Rose Gehret Thobe; a brother, John Thobe; two sisters, Helen Warner and Frieda Thobe; and a sister-in-law, Amy Thobe.
She attended Houston Schools. She entered the order of the Sisters of the Precious Blood where she served for 45 years. She received a bachelor of science degree in education from Athenaeum of Ohio College in Cincinnati, a master's degree from St. John's College of Cleveland, and a bachelor's in theology at St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Ind. She was a member of the Precious Blood Order. She taught in Phoenix, Ariz., Cincinnati, Dayton, Bellefontaine, Minster and Coldwater. She was a member of the Darke County Retired Teachers' Association and the St. Marys Catholic Church in Greenville.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. John R. White officiating. Burial is at St. Remy Catholic Church Cemetery in Russia.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville.
