The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Esther Homan
Esther I. Hicks Homan, 87, Fort Recovery, died at 9:05 a.m. March 3, 2011, at The Gardens at St. Henry.
She was born Nov. 16, 1923, in Jay County, Ind., to Labon and Rose Berger Fogle. On June 6, 1942, she married Harry Hicks, who died Oct. 31, 1967. On June 17, 1972, she married Walter Homan, who died Nov. 7, 1977.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Sovocool, Fletcher, Okla.; four sons, James (Carolyn) Hicks, Berne, Ind., Robert Hicks, Fort Wayne, Ind., Richard Hicks, Fort Recovery, and David (Pam) Hicks, Fort Recovery; a sister-in-law, Anna Homan, St. Anthony; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Also deceased are a brother, Glenn Fogle; an infant brother, Oscar Fogle; and a sister, Elvera Theurer.
She worked as a wedding and banquet cook and was employed at McDonald's in Coldwater. She graduated from Portland High School in Indiana in 1941. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, both of Fort Recovery.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial is at Gravel Hill Cemetery in Bryant, Ind.
Calling is 2-6 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home in Fort Recovery.
