Forest Shope
Former Rockford resident Forest R. "Toy" Shope, 86, Moffat, Texas, died July 18, 2011, at the VA Hospital in Temple, Texas.
He was born May 28, 1925, in Rockford, to James and Ethel Snyder Shope. On Oct. 25, 1946, he married Virginia Lee Jones, who survives.
Also surviving are son Forest Lee (Latecia) Shope, Moffat; two daughters, Doris Miller and Debbie (Tommie) Roberts, Belton, Texas; a sister, Jean (Richard) Springer, Rockford; a brother-in-law, Jimmy (Thalia) Jones, Dangerfield, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, two sisters, a son and a granddaughter.
He was a heavy equipment operator for many years and a retired member of Operating Engineers. He was a charter member of Anchor of Hope Fellowship Church, Belton. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Dossman Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Sam Callaway officiating.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
