Scattered snow showers will become more widespread through this afternoon and then likely linger into this evening before tapering off.
The snow showers will be capable of causing brief periods of reduced visibilities, especially this afternoon. In addition, brisk conditions will prevail with west winds gusting in the 30 to 40 mph range today.
Light snow accumulations will be possible, mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces. While roads will remain mostly wet during the daytime hours, some slick spots may develop toward sunset as temperatures begin to drop below freezing.
Please be prepared for the changing weather conditions today and the potential for reduced visibilities when driving.

Irene Sommer
Irene P. Sommer, 84, died Dec. 20, 2011, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster.
She was born Feb. 2, 1927, in Coldwater, to William and Anna Schoenlein. On Oct. 19, 1946, she married Fred F. Sommer, who died Oct. 22, 1996.
Surviving are three children, Perry (Nancy) Sommer, Rochelle, Ill., Anne (Patrick) Meyer, Botkins, and Fred Jr. (Sherry) Sommer, Minster; a son-in-law, Dan Addington, Beavercreek; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Deceased is a daughter, Jennifer Addington; a son, Kenneth Sommer; and three grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, and a member of Minster Eagles Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary, Minster. She retired from Copeland Corporation, Sidney.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-9:30 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
Memorials may be made to Heritage Manor Activity Fund.
