Georgia Shope
Georgia Shope, 85, Rockford, died at 6:30 a.m. Feb. 27, 2012, in her daughter's home in St. Marys.
She was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Celina, to Henry and Lawrena Deitsch Alt. On Jan. 18, 1947, she married Frederick Shope, who died April 20, 1996.
Surviving are two children, Sharon (Tom) Menchhofer, St. Marys, and Mick (Nancy) Shope, Rockford; three sisters-in-law, Betty Shope, Lois Jean Springer and Virginia Shope; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; and nine stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Fern Alt.
She was a cook at Parkway School, Rockford, for 28 years, worked as a cook at Shane Hill Nursing Home for 18 years and worked on the farm with her husband.
She was a member of Olive Branch Church of God, Ohio City.
Service is 11 a.m. Thursday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Steve Waterman officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
