Celina police chief warns of dangers

A recent theft in Celina has opened the eyes of authorities and residents to a way a burglar can break into a garage.
A Celina man was arrested last week for stealing a pickup truck from a Bruns Avenue garage after he reportedly slid a hangar or wire with a hook through the top of the garage door to disable the emergency release latch. The man then pulled up the garage door and entered the home. [More]
57-ton suction dredge will be assembled on the east side of lake

GRAND LAKE - Grand Lake's new $668,000 dredge, Brutus, arrived Wednesday in several pieces on five trailers.
The 57-ton suction dredge will be assembled this week in the parking lot at Freedom Outdoors Marina on the east side of the lake. A dedication ceremony with a champagne bottle christening will be next week, said Tom Grabow, manager of Grand Lake St. Marys State Park's dredge program. [More]

CELINA - A police dispatcher recently laid off by city administrators has filed a union grievance against the city.
Serving the city since 2009, full-time dispatcher John Mangen's last official day of work was Wednesday, safety service director Tom Hitchcock told the newspaper.
GRAND LAKE - The state on Wednesday closed a tube at the base of the West Bank spillway now that the lake's water level is at normal pool.
