Charles Wangler
Charles F. "Chuck" Wangler, 83, Portland, Ind., died May 2, 2013.
He was born Jan. 23, 1930, in Fort Recovery, to Felix and Vivian Kleinhenz Wangler.
Surviving are two sons, Charles S. Wangler, Houston, Texas, and Mike (Katrina) Wangler, Portland; a daughter, Theresa (John) Miller, Bend, Ore.; a sister, Betty Fullenkamp, Fort Recovery; and four grandchildren.
He retired as a forging designer and estimator from Teledyne Portland Forge in 1992. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a 1948 Fort Recovery High School graduate. He was a member of Jayland Wood Carvers, Jay County Historical Society, American Legion Post 211 and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, all of Portland.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland, with Joe Hines presiding. Burial with military rites by the American Legion follows at Stranton Cemetery.
Calling is 4-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
