Herman Sudhoff
Herman J. Sudhoff , 84, Fort Recovery, Ohio, died August 2, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, OH.
He was born February 17, 1931, in St. Anthony, OH, to the late Henry and Veronica (Muhlenkamp) Sudhoff. On October 9, 1954, he married Dorothy (Braun) Sudhoff, who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Linda (David) Laux of Coldwater, OH, Donna (David) Wuebker of St. Henry, OH, Janet (Gary) Niekamp of Coldwater, OH, Cynthia Lefeld and special friend Vincent Lefeld, both of St. Henry, OH, Denise (Daniel) Dues of Coldwater, OH, Lisa Braun of Fort Recovery, OH, Kevin (Diane) Sudhoff of Fort Recovery, OH, and Gary Sudhoff of Coldwater, OH; two sisters, Merilda Fleck of Celina, OH and Mary Agnes Knapke of Coldwater, OH; two brothers, Paul (Mary) Sudhoff of Madison, IN and Ray (Margie) Sudhoff of Fort Recovery, OH; 24 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Cleo Sudhoff and Judy Sudhoff, both of Fort Recovery, OH; in-laws, Rosemary (George) Bruns of Chickasaw, OH, Betty (Ernest) Meyer of Newport, OH, Richard (Janet) Braun of St. Henry, OH, Ruth (Leon) Brunswick of St. Henry, OH, Marlene (Roman) Fullenkamp of Bryant, IN, Kathy (Richard) Highley of Celina, OH, and Karen (Paul) Boeke of Cassella, OH.
Deceased are a son-in-law, Gerald Lefeld; two sisters and their husbands, Rita and Wes Meinerding and Irene and Ralph Link; two brothers, Alfred Sudhoff and Alvin Sudhoff; two brothers-in-law, Robert Fleck and Paul "Bud" Knapke and a sister-in-law, Bernice Sudhoff.
Herman was a 1948 graduate of Coldwater High School. He was previously employed at New Idea, Coldwater, and was a lifelong farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War.
He was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Anthony, OH. He also belonged to the American Legion Post 345 and the Knights of Columbus Council 3324, both of Fort Recovery.
Herman was a devoted husband to his wife, Dorothy, of 60 years and a caring and loving father to his eight children. He brought much joy to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He took tremendous pride in his work on the farm, and for leisure time enjoyed league bowling and playing cards.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Thursday, August 6, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with Fr. Timothy Ralston officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery.
Calling is 2:00 pm-8:00 pm Wednesday and 9:00 am-9:45 am Thursday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery. The American Legion prayer service is 7:45 pm Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by the Knights of Columbus prayer service. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion.
