Local heroin seizure the largest ever

By Jared Mauch
CELINA - Grand Lake Task Force and Heroin Interdiction Team efforts Tuesday night resulted in the groups' largest seizure of heroin capsules.
Officers recovered more than 150 suspected heroin capsules, $523 in cash, a suboxone drug patch and drug paraphernalia, Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey said this morning at a news conference.
Brock Watson, 28, and Tyla Ganger, 21, both of 440 Touvelle St., Celina, were arrested on trafficking in heroin charges, he said.
The operation started Tuesday evening with controlled drug purchases by officers, who later sought and received a search warrant, Grey added.
The first buy was reportedly of three suspected heroin capsules and occurred in the late evening, Grey said.
A second controlled buy was reportedly of two suspected heroin capsules and occurred sometime after midnight, he added.
A search warrant was executed about 2 a.m. today and 127 suspected heroin capsules and drug paraphernalia were located in the home. The search also turned up 26 suspected heroin capsules in a 2002 Mazda, which was seized, Grey added.
Both Watson and Ganger have posted bond for previous arrests, Grey said.
Watson has two pending drug possession charges and Ganger faces a drug possession charge and a tampering with evidence charge, Mercer County Prosecutor Matthew Fox said this morning. His department plans to file motions to revoke the earlier bonds.
Watson has had several previous arrests including for possession of heroin, inciting violence, possession of Schedule 2 drugs and contempt of court, all from this year, Grey said.
Ganger's previous charges include possession of heroin, possession of Schedule 2 drugs, tampering with evidence, previous probation violations, all from this year, and contempt of court charges from 2013, 2014 and 2015, Grey said.
The two remained in the Mercer County jail this morning, Grey said.
