Fall migration brings beautiful birds
Photo by Mark Pummell/The Daily Standard

A great egret flies over a wetland at the treatment train along Coldwater Creek west of U.S. 127 on Tuesday morning. These shore birds and many others not typically seen in the area are starting their annual fall migration. Grand Lake and surrounding waterways provide a perfect stopover. Today, the last day of summer, will be mostly sunny with a high of 85 degrees, local forecaster Dennis Howick said. He expects tonight to be clear with a low of 62 and Thursday to be mostly sunny with a high of 85.
