Gusty southwest winds will become westerly this afternoon. The strong winds and the recently fallen snow is resulting in some blowing and drifting snow, especially across rural and open areas. This may result in rapid changes in road conditions over short distances. Motorists should exercise extra caution.

Loretta Welsch
Loretta E. Welsch age 97, longtime rural Bryant, Indiana, resident passed away Monday at Swiss Village in Berne, Indiana.
She was born in Jay County July 19, 1920 the daughter of Frank and Odelia (Wagner) Laux. She was married May 19, 1945 to Harold "Doc" Welsch and he died July 13, 1999.
She was a Registered Nurse working in Fort Wayne, Jay County and CTS in Berne. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Ladies Sodality.
Surviving are four daughters Kaye Windmiller (husband Larry) of Fort Wayne, Theresa Linn (husband Terry) of Celina, Vickie Reitz (husband Steve) of Bryant and Alice Bruggeman (husband Jim) of Bryant, two brothers Francis Laux of Bryant and Ralph Laux of Bryant, four sisters Agnes Clark of Astabaula, Ohio, Alice Crane of Florida, Anna Jetmore of Huntertown and Stella Burns of Clearwater, FL., ten grandchildren and Eighteen Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 AM in Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bryant with Fr. Ken Alt presiding. Burial will follow in the Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00-7:00 PM and Thursday from 9:30-10:00 AM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland.
Memorials can be made to the Hospice Group of choice.
