Helen Richards
Helen Richards, age 83, of Celina, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 4:26 am at the CHP Home Care and Hospice in Van Wert.
She was born September 18, 1934 in Middlesboro, Kentucky, to the late Glen and Grace (Ramsey) Shumate. On October 28, 1950 she married Fred B. Richards and he preceded her in death on May 31, 2017.
She is also survived by her children, Donna (Richard) Birt, Celina, Jackie (Michael) Fowler, Celina, Tina Richards, Celina, Wayne Richards, Wapakoneta, Glen Richards, Celina, and Mike (Tracy) Richards, St. Marys; a brother, Bert Shumate, Middlesboro, Kentucky; 18 grandchildren; 27 greatgrandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
Helen was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy Richards; by two brothers, Marvin Shumate, and Joe Shumate; and two sisters Lucille Bernes, and Loraine Shumate.
She was a homemaker and a member of Celina Baptist Temple in Celina.
Funeral services will begin at 12:00 pm, Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Celina Baptist Temple, 7505 Celina Mendon Rd., Celina, Ohio 45822, with Rev. Steve Clayton officiating; where the family will receive friends from 10-12 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens in Celina.
