Wanda Jarrells
Wanda Lee Jarrells, 85, of New Knoxville, died 12:14 P.M. Friday, January 4, 2019, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, Saint Marys.
She was born January 23, 1933, in Nolan, West Virginia, the daughter of Luther and Polly (Ratliff) Cook. She married Ray "Rebel" Jarrells on December 22, 1949, in Pikeville, Kentucky; he preceded her in death on October 23, 2014.
She is survived by her children: Phill (Cora) Jarrells of Wapakoneta; David Jarrells of Saint Marys; Jon (Lou Anne) Jarrells of New Knoxville; Rae Ann Roettger of New Knoxville; Kitty (Randy) Sunderland of New Knoxville; Tim (Pam) Jarrells of Wapakoneta.
She is survived by nine grandsons: Michael Jarrells; Steven Jarrells; Matthew Jarrells; Scott Jarrells; Mark Jarrells; Robert Jarrells; Andrew Roettger; Kevin Sunderland; Jared Sunderland. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and by one brother, William Cook of Roanoke, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; an infant daughter, Iva Kay Jarrells; by her siblings: Maude Elkins; Goldie Chapman; Jo Ann Berry; Lou Ellen Nunley; Robert Cook; Arthur "Ike" Cook. She was also preceded in death by her half-brothers and sisters: Nora Williams; Elza Cook; Ellen Myers; Effie Cook; John Cook; Eulah Cook.
Wanda was a homemaker and had worked as a Nurses' Aide for 16 years at the Valley Nursing Home, Saint Marys. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and traveling. She had been a member of the New Knoxville PTA for many years. Her life was dedicated to caring for her family. She will be remembered for her work ethic, her love for others, and her great sense of humor. She was a true Southern Lady. She was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, Wapakoneta.
Funeral rites will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Pastor Mike Westbay, officiant. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to the Diabetes Foundation.
