Gregory Kruger
Gregory Steven Kruger, age 66, of Lewis Center, Ohio passed away on Monday, January 14, 2019 at the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus.
He was born on June 8, 1952 in Celina, Ohio to the late Roland Kruger Jr. and Opal Jeannette (Fetters) Zimmerman.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Sandra (Mescher) Kruger, his three children, Ryan (Heather) Kruger of Thornton, PA, Casey (Sara) Kruger of Sterling, MA, and Ashley (Gary) Spanraft of Delaware, OH, his four grandchildren Brooke, Alyssa, Kyra and Kiley Kruger, as well as his mother, step-father Charles Zimmerman, brother Douglas Kruger, and sister Teresa (Gregory) Harris.
Gregory graduated from Celina High School with the Class of 1970 and the Naval Nuclear Power School. Serving in the Navy for 7 years, he was stationed in Pearl Harbor aboard the submarine USS Patrick Henry running patrols out of Guam during the Vietnam War, as well as on the USS Groton where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Greg was honorably discharged on December 16, 1977.
Greg received a BS in Business Administration from Lake Erie College. He was Vice President for several technical consulting companies, retiring from ADECCO in 2011.
Greg was a member of the Celina American Legion Post #210. Greg was an avid Buckeye fan, enjoyed fishing, birdwatching, and woodworking. He had a keen interest in food and wine pairings.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina, Ohio, with Rev. Kenneth Lehman officiating. Burial will follow services in the Mercer Memory Gardens Cemetery in Celina, Ohio, with Military Honors by the Celina American Legion and the Celina VFW.
Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, January 18th and from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM Saturday, January 19th at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home. American Legion membership services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
